Party on Wheels

Kathleen Alleaume - Sunday, October 10, 2010
I spent my morning partying on wheels to help celebrate the 350.org / 10:10 campaign's global day of positive action on climate change.  This campaign sets out to show Sydney just how rockin’ cycling is for riders, the environment, the community and (especially) business owners along the new cycle ways.

The ride begins at Single Origin (Fair Trade Coffee) in Hands Lane, Surry Hills and fans out across Sydney before converging on Centennial Park for a bike love fest and (vego) picnic. To top off the day a huge 350 will be created from people and picnic blankets and an iconic photo taken to add to the global campaign.

If you love bikes or just love the planet, grab some mates and help us Keep it Wheel!

The Story of Cosmetics

The Bottom Line:

1. Read the label. Read them! Don't be fooled just because the marketing says they are organic or natural, there is a lot of latitude in those words. Just because they use 2% of an organic substance, doesn't make them fully organic. Do your research and if you don't know what a particular ingredient is, look it up! We are educated consumers; we read labels on our food so why not on the products we put on our skin? Much like food, the shorter the ingredients list the better.

2. Less is more. We are finding out that many of the chemicals we have routinely used in past years take a real toll on the planet and on our bodies. It is crucial that we all go green in some ways. So stop accumulating crap in your bathroom cabinet - and get back to basics - which also includes my next point...

3. Look within. Eat loads of plant-based food (fruit, legumes, nuts, vegetables). They are packed with antioxidants that combat free-radicals - one of the leading causes of fine lines and wrinkles.

Remember, you are what you absorb!
